The Labor Day work party was a huge success. Two
men, Carl Haynes & Ron Bennefeld, showed up early in
the week. The rest of the guys came in as scheduled.
Attending the festivities were Ron Bennefeld, Don
"Chief" Cole and his wife with her friend and her
friends grandson, Rick Christie, Sr., Bob Green with
his wife and son, Carl Haynes, Gary Locke and his
grandson, Steve Stratford and Mike Warren. Also
attending were a few of the local residents. Rex
Flowers, the ships caretaker, and the four men Mike
has hired to haul the junk from his property were
also in attendance.
A lot of work was accomplished during the holiday
week-end. Quite a bit of outer sheeting was removed
from the stbd. side. Covers were fabricated for the
open hatches on the fantail and the signs Carl
Haynes made were put up on the bridge for passers by
to see. As it turned out there was no painting done
during the work party.
